*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚*:・゚✧
Ever since Rafe met you a year ago, he’s gone to you after everything.
Whenever he’s angry, or stressed, or feeling downright homicidal, he comes to you. He knocks three times on your apartment door before you let him in, pulling him into your arms. Sometimes he doesn’t even knock the third time before you’re throwing the door open and grabbing his hand. It’s almost as if he steps into a portal into another dimension with the way he immediately relaxes in your presence, everything rolling off of his shoulders as he wraps his arms around you. You’re always so soft, and you always smell so good, like that expensive perfume he got you for your birthday.
You’ll hold him for as long as he needs, rubbing his back and lightly scratching his scalp with your nails, it’s the least you could do considering he pays for them every time. He just has one rule. You can’t kiss him. And it’s so hard not to. It’s hard not to grab him and kiss him while he’s thrusting into you, hand on your throat. It’s hard not to kiss him when he rushes inside your apartment, angry tears in his eyes with blood on his knuckles after losing his temper on someone.
You spend most of your nights waiting for him. Sometimes you stay up all night, waiting for those three little knocks. You spend most of the time asleep on your sofa, hoping he would come to you instead of her.
Sofia.
At first, he told you Sofia was just a friend, which turned into a friends with benefits. He told you there wasn’t anything serious going on, and that she was just a girl he kept around when he was bored, that she was good for his ever decaying image in the Outer Banks. And you believed him. You fucking believed him. There was a little part of you that wanted to occupy his brain, be the only living space in his head. And when he’s filling up his lungs with a cigarette or some weed he bummed off of Kelce, you wanted to be the only name that’s under his breath.
You didn’t know the truth until you saw her Instagram post. Her account was private, but you managed to get your follow request approved on your burner account. You spent far too much time scrolling through her never-ending posts and stories, looking for a glimpse of him. You had decided to check her account while eating your breakfast this morning, the spoon clattering out of your hand when you saw her newest post.
It was a photo of her and Rafe, lounging in his new house, with the caption; ‘Soft launching an almost year-long relationship. Happy 8 months, baby!’
Your oatmeal was shortly discarded. You crawled back into your bed, cancelled all of your plans, and decided to hide away from the world until you got over him.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚*:・゚✧
It was almost 10 PM when you heard the three little knocks.
Rafe stands on the other side, hands shaking slightly. What was taking you so long? He bangs twice more before you finally open the door.
You hold the door open just wide enough so he can see you, keeping your hand firmly on the doorknob. “Hey.”
“Hey.” He doesn’t sound like his usual self. He sounds drained, the bags under his eyes more pronounced than usual. He’s wearing a pair of black jeans and a hoodie, a gold chain around his neck that glitters in the light. It feels like forever before he speaks again, eyes not meeting yours. “Can I come in?”
You should say no. You should turn him away. You were the other woman, after all.
But you let him in, stepping aside, biting the inside of your lip.
Rafe sighs, relieved. He really didn’t want to stay somewhere else tonight. Quietly, he slips past you, going straight for your sofa. He plops himself down, immediately kicking his shoes off and burying his head in his hands, elbows on his knees. You shut the door and lock it, hesitating before walking over to him, standing next to the sofa. You almost move to sit next to him, nervously picking at the skin around your thumbnails.
He doesn’t notice you hovering over him, too lost in his own head. He looks like a complete mess. Rafe is usually so put together, always straightening his hair until it’s just right and tugging on the sleeve of his designer sweatshirt if it’s even a centimeter out of place.
“You okay?” You eventually say, and you regret the words as soon as they leave your mouth. You shouldn’t have even let him in.
“What do you think?” His tone is bitter, but you can tell there’s no real bite behind it. He still refuses to look up, his fingers lacing together and gripping his hair almost painfully.
“Don’t do that.” You immediately say, reaching out and grabbing his fingers. “Don’t rip your hair out.”
He flinches for a moment, not expecting you to touch him. He glances up at you, his gaze meeting yours for a second before he looks away again, his shoulders slumping a little as all the fight leaves his body. Rafe doesn’t pull his hands away, instead he just moves them out of his hair, allowing you to hold his hands.
He looks so disheveled it almost hurts.
You sit down, continuing to hold his hands. “What’s wrong?”
He doesn’t respond at first. Instead, his thumb brushes against yours, absentmindedly. “We got into a fight. Me and Sofia.” He admits quietly. It shouldn’t make your heart leap into your throat, but it does. You shouldn’t be happy that he and his awful girlfriend are fighting.
“I’m sorry.” You say, brushing your thumbs over the back of his hands.
He sighs heavily, leaning his head against the back of the sofa. “It just… It didn’t use to be like this, y’know? We were just friends, and we were just messing around.” His tone is bitter, almost annoyed. “Now she wants me to be her boyfriend and everything is… different. And I don’t like it.”
Your eyes widen ever so slightly. At that moment you feel a glimmer of hope, that maybe he didn’t want to date Sofia, and that he actually wanted to be with you. “What happened?”
Rafe closes his eyes as he tilts his head towards the ceiling, like it’ll help him remember. “She was nagging me all day. Nag nag nag. I was trying to work, she wanted to go on a date.” He pauses just for a second to take a deep breath, his brow furrowing slightly when he releases it. “She started being a brat. ‘Oh, but you always make time for her!’” He says the last part in a high-pitched mocking tone.
“You can talk to me, if you want.” You slide your hand into his, intertwining your fingers. “You’re always welcome here.”
Rafe stares at your interlocked hands, biting the inside of his lip. He hesitates for a second before giving your hand a small squeeze. “I told her I didn’t feel like going on some stupid date, and she started acting like a baby. She said… she said if I wasn’t going to act like a boyfriend, I shouldn’t get to have all the benefits of having a girlfriend.” He says the last part with a scoff, anger making its way into his voice again.
You squeeze his hand. “Do you want to stay here tonight?”
Rafe finally looks back at you, his brow furrowing again. “Yeah. I don’t want to be home with her right now.” You didn’t know they lived together.
You hope it means as much to him as it does to you that he’s staying here.
You lead him into your bedroom, pulling out the spare clothes that he keeps here. He changes in front of you, as he always does, and you have to stop yourself from staring. Part of you feels guilty for letting him stay here while his girlfriend was at home, waiting up for him.
You start to overthink. You want Rafe here. You don’t want him to go home, especially not to her. But you don’t want to be the other woman, you don’t want to make an enemy out of Sofia. “Rafe, maybe you should--” You start to say before he suddenly grabs you, throwing you onto your bed and climbing on top of you.
“Don’t.” He interrupts you, pinning your wrists to the mattress as he moves in to lay between your legs. He looks down at you, his brow still furrowed. “I don’t want to talk about her or hear her name. I just want to forget about her.” He leans down towards your neck, breathing in the scent of your skin. “I need you.”
“You have me.” You say softly.
He shakes his head. Something in him shifts as he starts tugging on your shirt, trying to pull it off of you. He seems desperate, desperate for you and to feel your skin against his. “You don’t get it.”
You lift your arms so he can pull your t-shirt off. “You need me, Rafe, and I’m here. I’m always here.” Your expression falls, growing slightly worried as you see his eyes turn red, tears starting to well up.
Rafe shakes his head, the motion almost desperate. “No,” he answers, his fingers tracing the soft skin around your ribs. “I need you. I need you in a way that I’ve never needed anyone before. I need to be so close to you that we’re a single being. I need my skin against yours with no boundaries between us. I need—”. He slowly pushes you onto your back, moving to hover over you as his hands continue to roam, moving to caress your sides and hips. “I need to feel you against me,” he whispers. “I need your skin on mine until there’s no way to know where you begin, and I end.”
You’ve never wanted to kiss him so bad. You reach up and cup his face, brushing your thumb over his cheekbone. "You have me, honey. In every way you want. I'll always be here."
He presses his face against your palm, closing his eyes and nuzzling into your touch, chasing after the gentle sensation of your hands against his skin. He swallows hard, his throat bobbing as his eyes open again to meet yours. He presses closer against you, his forehead dropping to rest in the crook of your neck. He lets out a shaky breath. “Baby,” he whispers, voice cracking slightly before he stops, his fingers digging into the flesh of your thighs as he tries to hold himself together.
“What?” You ask softly, your hand moving up behind his head.
“I… I can’t take this anymore.” Rafe presses himself even closer against you, his entire torso pressing against yours as his arms wrap around your middle, his fingers tracing the skin of your back. “Sofia.” He says her name like it’s a curse, his grip on you tightening. “She’s controlling and clingy and demanding. I have to go where she wants, do everything she wants, and I can’t say no to anything, or she throws a tantrum. I hate it.”
“Don’t think about her.” You say softly into his ear, rubbing the back of his neck with your thumb. “She’s not here. I am.”
“I know,” he whispers, and the words come out so close to him moaning that it sends little sparks directly to your core. “God, I know. You’re all I can think about. You’ve been all I can think about since I met you.”
A moment of silence passes between you, only the sound of his ragged breathing filling the room until he speaks again, sounding more desperate this time. “Kiss me, please.”
Your eyes widen, your heart almost stopping. “What? But Rafe, you told me I couldn’t.”
“I don’t care.” His voice is firm, his hand moving up from your back to cup your cheek, forcing you to look up at him. His eyes are dark, the deep blue practically black in the low light of the room. “Please. I need to feel something that isn’t her against me. I need to feel you. Kiss me, please, kiss me, please—” His words break into a desperate plea, his hand pressing against the skin of your back almost frantically.
He sounds so desperate, it makes your heart ache.
You cup his cheeks and kiss him, going softly at first.
Rafe immediately melts into your touch, his entire body relaxing in response. His hands start to roam again, his fingertips tracing the curve of your waist, the skin on the underside of your thighs, the flesh of your back. He can’t stay still, touching every inch of you that his hands can reach as he kisses you like the taste of your mouth is the only thing that will save him from drowning. His tongue swipes along your bottom lip, begging you to give him more as he pushes your legs open. He grinds himself against you, reaching down to pull your panties off. He pulls away before ripping the soft purple cotton in half, shoving the remnants into his pocket. He sits up on his knees, tugging his sweatpants down, smirking at you when your eyes linger on his bulge.
He tugs his boxers down and goes to climb on top of you again when you stop him. “Condom, Rafe.”
That stops him in his tracks, his eyes widening slightly and his cheeks turning pink as he looks down at you. “I didn’t—“ He swallows hard, his throat bobbing obviously as he looks almost guilty. “I didn’t bring one.”
“Dresser.” You say. “Top drawer, by the socks. Big box of ‘em.”
He immediately scrambles off of the bed, his fingers trembling slightly as he pulls open the drawer, digging through it before finding the box. He picks up the box, his fingers drumming against the lid for a moment before popping it open. He glances at you as he pulls one out, tossing the box onto the floor next to a discarded sock without bothering to shut the lid. “How often do you bring guys back here?” He asks, more accusatory than he intended for it to be.
“Not for other guys.” You say. “You just never bring any.”
“Oh.” He seems to relax a little at that answer, swallowing hard and looking almost sheepish as he turns around, holding it up between two fingers.
He looks so handsome walking over to you, now.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚✧*:・゚*:・゚✧
Rafe fucks you so good, you almost tell him you love him.
Your legs are still shaky the next morning as you make your way around your kitchen, preparing some breakfast. You hear him padding through your apartment before coming up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing his chest against your back. You lean against him as you cook, reaching up with your free hand to cup his cheek.
You sit in comfortable silence.
Until Rafe’s phone dings.
He sighs, pulling it out of his pocket. He opens the message and reads it, chewing on his bottom lip.
“Something wrong?” You ask.
“It’s Sofia.” He says.
You tighten your grip on your spatula. “Is it?”
“Yeah,” Rafe sighs, kissing the back of your head. “I gotta go home. I promised her a brunch date on the mainland.”
You freeze, but just for a second. “You’re going back to her? Even after what we talked about yesterday?” You turn the stove top off and set your spatula down, turning to face him.
“Yeah. She’s my girlfriend.” Rafe says.
You’re speechless. Were you being delusional last night? Did you dream it all? “But… I thought you said that you didn’t like being her boyfriend.”
“I don’t.” Rafe says, sighing. He tilts his head slightly. “She’s good for appearances, for my reputation.”
“But you don’t need her to have a good reputation.” You argue. “Just try to not fight every Pogue you see, and your reputation will skyrocket.”
“You dont get it, baby.” Rafe says, starting to get defensive. “I need her. Whether you like it or not, I need to play pretend with her.”
“But is it worth it?” You ask. “Is it worth being unhappy?”
“I’m always unhappy!” Rafe says. “I’m kinda used to it, sweetheart.”
You scoff. “Are you unhappy with me?”
“No, of course not.” Rafe says quickly. “Don’t be stupid.”
You sigh. “Rafe, I just don’t understand your reasoning.”
“It’s just for appearances.” Rafe says. He can feel himself getting angrier and angrier, but he has to hold himself back, stop himself from snapping at you. He reaches up and tugs on his hair again. “God, what do you want from me? What do you want me to do, huh?”
You suck in a short breath. You haven’t seen Rafe angry in so long, you almost forgot what it was like. “All I wanted was you.”
Rafe purses his lips, looking away. He takes a shaky deep breath, counting to four before releasing, a trick you taught him. He takes a step towards you, watching you flinch slightly. “No, don’t…don’t flinch, baby. You know I’m not gonna do anything.” He reaches out, cupping the back of your head, threading his fingers through your hair before pulling you closer. He kisses your forehead before sighing, leaving his lips against your skin.
“It’s just for appearances.” He whispers. “I promise.” He kisses your forehead again before pulling away, cupping your face. “I’ll be back tonight, okay? Please promise me you’ll stay up.”
You nod.
Rafe sighs, lightly squishing your cheeks, his voice low and soft. “Words, sweet girl.”
You shiver, leaning closer. “I promise I’ll stay up.”
“Good girl.” His voice is almost a whisper as he pulls you closer, kissing your forehead yet again. “I’ll be back soon.”
He leaves as quickly as he entered, shutting the door behind you.
You let out a shaky breath before turning the stove top back on and continuing to cook.
You were going to stay up. You would be stupid not to.

How to stop overeating while on your period because I have a good week but as soon as it’s my period I crave sugary sweet foods and just oily foods
this happen to me during my period. if your body is asking you to eat more, go for it, but with healthy choices and foods that help you feel good during your period.
some examples:
pineapple
nuts
carrot
fish
watermelon
eggs
banana
dark chocolate
and also tea: cinnamon, ginger, turmeric or rosemary
my favourite for these days is ginger.
and you can make something filling and nutritious with some of these foods. i would say:
toast with avocado and a fried egg or smoked salmon, add chia seeds on top for example.
a fruit salad with the aforementioned fruits.
a bowl with greek yoghurt, banana, oatmeal and dark chocolate.
you can also opt for a baked fish and a vegetable side dish.
and if you're hungry between meals, nuts and dried fruit are filling and have many benefits.
the point is not to stop eating but to learn to eat well and what your body is asking for. a nutritious meal will always fill you up and you won't need sugary or oily food.
and if you feel like eating "junk food" for a day, there is nothing wrong with that. it is positive to find a balance.
and remember to take care of yourself during your period days.
remember that i am not a specialist in this, it is what i usually eat and researched that it is good.

3 A.M. Snack
☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆ .。.:*
A/N; I’ve always wanted to do this with someone so of course I wrote it with Kylo :D this trope (?) is a classic and always one of my favs!! Also a little glimpse of the modern AU I have cookin
Part of Written in the Stars
Summary; It’s the middle of the night and you can’t sleep, so naturally you make a trip to the kitchen. Your husband decides to follow you.
Content; Modern AU, pure fluff, cooking + dancing in the kitchen at 3 am, married to Kylo, sleepy and soft and lovey Kylo (the best version), also very clingy Kylo, you can’t cook for shit (I’m projecting), so Kylo’s like your personal chef, sharing a meal, how many times can I say cook in this intro, you have a pet cat :), cuddling
Wc; 1.2k
☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆ .。.:*
The clock reads 3:27 AM.
Far too late for you to be awake, but sleep has escaped you once again and you’re not a fan of laying in bed just tossing and turning all night. So you slipped out of your lover’s arms—which is a feat in itself considering the iron grip he has—and went down to the kitchen. What else are you supposed to do at 3 AM? You don’t want to work on answering emails or anything like that, that’s for sure, and besides, you didn’t have much to eat the day prior anyway because you were too busy. Might as well.
You keep your steps light through the house that’s filled with silence, moving so quietly it’s like you were never there. Each room is bathed in the darkness of night, save for the massive window-wall in the living room that bleeds into the kitchen. Moonlight filters through, giving things a pale glow. BB is one of those things, the cat having followed you downstairs. His black and silvery fur reflects the moon, making him seem like a little star if he stands in the light rays at just the right angle.
You stand in the wide kitchen, hands on your hips, wondering what to do. BB gives a curious meow, winding around your legs. “Shh- I’m thinking.” You mutter. Cereal? No. Muffin? Also no. Oatmeal? Definitely not. You have just about everything you could want in here and yet your mind is annoyingly blank.
You perk up at the sound of footsteps and then there’s strong arms around you, one crossed against your chest, a warm hand coming up to lightly grip your jaw and leave kisses peppered along your neck. You lean into the gentle touches like a cat. You’re not surprised he showed up, he always does. Whenever you’re awake in the middle of the night, he’s awake minutes later. It’s endearing, having someone miss you so deeply even in their dreams.
“Sweetheart,” Kylo mumbles against your skin, clearly still half asleep, “you have a conference in the morning.”
You huff and resist the urge to roll your eyes. Even without most of his wits about him, he still pesters you about work. You have a secretary who does that enough—with him around it’s like you don’t even need one. Sure he’s kept you from missing more than a few sponsorship meetings, but that’s besides the point. Your head falls back onto his shoulder. “Couldn’t sleep. Also I was hungry.”
He hums, taking the opportunity to kiss your cheek. “Then I’ll make you something.”
You tense, turning yourself around and pushing him away as a result, much to his dismay. “What? No, no, you go back to bed. You had a long day.” You say, trying to be stern. Your hand cups his cheek, thumb rubbing along the freckled skin. You see the darkness beneath his eyes; his job hasn’t been kind recently. You consider returning to bed just for his benefit so that he’ll sleep, even if it’ll leave you lying awake staring at the ceiling for hours.
He doesn’t give you a chance to do such a thing, pulling you close again and resting his head in the crook of your neck. You feel his sigh blow across your skin; it makes a shiver run down your spine. “I don’t want you to burn down our kitchen.”
You scoff, incredulous. “I think I can handle it. You have no faith in your wife.”
“Last time I did, the house smelled like burnt chicken for the whole day.” He says pointedly. You pout, and he straightens to peck your lips, begrudgingly making you smile. “I’m already up, let me do this.”
Kylo leaves it unmentioned, but you both know he won’t be able to go back to sleep unless you do either. You find how clingy he is at night to be pretty cute; he’s like a puppy that can’t stand being away from you for more than two seconds. You sigh. “Fine.”
“Good.” He says, heading towards the fridge. “What do you want then?”
You have no response because you were working on trying to figure that out before he came in, and you were ultimately unsuccessful. But it seems that’s not a problem for him—probably because he could cook whatever he thinks of and you… can’t. “Eggs on toast?” He asks, already pulling out the egg carton.
Your eyes light up, hands clasping together enthusiastically. “Oooh yeah that sounds good.”
He smirks knowingly, tossing you the loaf of bread and flicking on the overhead stove light. “I can trust you to toast bread, right?”
You glare at him in mock anger. “I don’t know, can you?”
He huffs a laugh and leaves you to your own devices, that being the toaster. You pop two slices of the thicker bread between the slots while he works on the eggs, buttered pan situated on the stovetop. You turn on the speaker that sits on the counter, gentle music flitting through the kitchen. You scoop up BB and hold him like a baby in your arms, his legs flailing as he accepts his fate. You hum along to the tune, dancing around on the linoleum floors, socks making it easy to slide. Kylo hooks an arm around your waist when you go by, bringing you in to kiss the top of your head. You smile, warmth buzzing in your chest.
BB gets spooked when the toaster finally goes off, scrabbling out of your hold and hurrying from the kitchen. You take the toast and put the pieces on plates, with Kylo’s being a bit more toasted than yours, just how he likes it. The eggs are finished around the same time, their smell filling the air and making your stomach growl. Kylo carefully slides them from the pan onto the toast, lightly peppered and cooked perfectly, of course.
You two take the late night snacks into the living room, sitting comfortably against each other on the couch, his warmth bleeding into yours. This was exactly what you needed; warm, tasty food, and simply enjoying the presence of your partner.
“Thank you,” you mumble around a mouthful, head bumping against his shoulder.
“Mm.”
You finish your egg on toast rather quickly, where he takes a bit longer, as usual. You feel your body droop while you wait for him, eyes burning with a sudden tiredness, like sleep has been waiting for the right moment to creep in and get you. It’d be very easy to just fall asleep on the couch…
Kylo doesn’t let you though, instead scooping you up into his arms with annoying ease after setting the plates on the table. You can get them in the morning. “Back to bed for you.” He says as your arms come up around his neck. You can’t find it in yourself to argue. You’re carried upstairs and to your shared bedroom, BB eagerly following behind. He jumps on the bed first, meowing in a way that tells you to hurry up.
Kylo sets you down gently, a whine coming from your throat when he separates from you, even though it’s only for a second. Then he’s next to you under the covers, pulling you into his chest and securing his arms around you once again. You drape one of your own arms over his middle, lightly dancing your fingers over his ribs, humming happily. He sighs in content, murmuring something loving that you can’t quite hear against your hair. BB is curled against your back, purrs rumbling.
With everything feeling right in the world, sleep is quick to claim you both.

Fat Nuggets Redesign! (1/???)
Very quick post for today because it is my birthday! I wanted to draw a character that I actually enjoy and genuinely have like no issues with because he is just a pig. I plan to draw some other pets like Vark but that’ll be more complex and about Vox because Vark will be a seizure alert animal and I want to put a lot of stuff into that post. Fat Nuggets though he’s just. God he looks so stupid. I love this pig man. Fat Nuggets is not a minipig in my rewrite by the way! He is a hellhog piglet and is at least 11 years old, however hellhogs age very very slow and he will not be big for a long while.
Considering he was also previously raised in a bad environment and was in someone else’s possession prior to Angel who did not treat him well at all, there are some things Fat Nuggets cannot do or experience. After his previous owner tried to disbud him for “less hassle”, it has permanently stunted and damaged his horns and spikes so they can no longer grow any longer than they are now. Fat Nuggets is now being well cared for and has not had any unwilling cosmetic procedures performed on him, is happy and healthy, and enjoys eating oatmeal.
If Angel actually signed him up for it I have no doubt he could become a therapy animal. Honestly I may look into the idea, I think a lot of these guys could benefit from a warm pig on their lap. Oh also, reminds me, because Angel is cold-blooded (technically) Fat Nuggets is his main source of warmth whenever clothes or blankets aren’t available or working well. Very good pig!

Femme Fatale Guide: Tips To Relieve Everyday Bloating
As someone who has dealt with chronic bloating for a lot of my life, here are some of my thoughts, observations, and recommendations. HUGE disclaimer: I am in no way an expert on this, a medical professional, nutritionist, or anything of the sort.
Especially for women, bloating can be a sign of gynecological issues (endometriosis, PCOS, hormone imbalances like estrogen dominance, and even a warning sign of ovarian cancer). So, if you experience constant bloating that doesn't get better with improved digestion, schedule an OB/GYN appointment ASAP to ensure that everything is okay on the women's health front.
Everyone's triggers are different, but for me, these are some of the common causes of bloating that I've noticed:
Lack of sleep
Stress
Eating too quickly or while stressed
Lack of movement/walking
Not drinking enough water
High-fat meals
Chewing gum
Carbonated drinks/alcohol
Here are some of my best tips, habits, and product recommendations to manage & minimize bloating:
Engage in a 1-minute diaphragmatic aka deep-belly breathing exercise in bed right after waking up and right before going to sleep (place one hand on the middle of your chest and the other in the central "hollow" area right below your rib cage)
Get at least 6-7 hours of sleep a night
Have a bowl of oatmeal (made with plain oats and water) with cinnamon and fruit every morning
Drink water before any coffee in the morning; Only having at most 16oz or one large mug of coffee before breakfast in the morning
Chew my food slowly, taking time between bites
Drink at least 8 large glasses of water daily
Take my Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D supplement daily (I love the Deva brand!)
Have avocados/use avocado oil as my primary fat source (I love nuts/nut butter, but they really bloat me, so find your trigger foods!); I've found a large salad with a romaine lettuce base, some veggies, avocado, and an ACV-based dressing works wonders to settle my stomach or steamed spinach with roasted root vegetables/potatoes
Use digestive enzymes when necessary (These digestive enzymes are my favorites!)
Take at least 30 minutes to walk/move around daily (Pilates, yoga, or bodyweight exercises also work)
Drink ginger tea or some herbal-based tea nightly (my long-time favorite is Bigelow Benefits Calm Stomach Ginger Peach Herbal Tea!)
Don't eat anything for at least 3 hours before bed
For trapped gas: Try lying on your stomach, engaging in the downward dog yoga position or fetal position on the left side, or doing an abdominal massage (rubbing in a circular motion from the right side of your pelvis up through your rib cage down and around the left side) all work well!

Short story : A Day with Nanami
It was a crisp Saturday morning, and the sun had just begun to peek through the curtains of the cozy apartment Nanami Kento shared with his little one. Today was a special day, a day free from work, a day dedicated solely to spending time with his beloved !
Nanami gently roused his little one from sleep, his voice a soft whisper, "Good morning, sunshine. Time to wake up"
The sleepy eyes blinked open, and a smile spread across the age regressed one face's "Gwood mowning, dada..."
After a nutritious breakfast of oatmeal topped with fresh fruits, prepared with care by Kento, the two set off for their morning walk in the nearby park. The crisp air and vibrant fall colors brought a sense of calm and joy
"Look, Papa ! A squiwwel!" you exclaimed, pointing excitedly
Nanami chuckled. "Yes, it's gathering acorns for the winter. Just like how we prepare for our day"
Back home, it was time for a bit of learning. Nanami had set up a puzzle on the living room floor. "Let's see if we can put this together," he said, sitting down beside his sweetheart. They worked together, Nanami patiently guiding and teaching as you connected the pieces
After lunch, which they prepared together, sandwiches cut into fun shapes and a colorful salad, came storytime. Nanami's deep, soothing voice filled the room as he read from a book of fables. The little one listened intently, eyes wide with wonder.
As the night grew quiet, Nanami sat beside the bed, reflecting on the day, grateful for the precious bond they shared.

i've been reading some of your arguments for why you wouldn't be vegan and just wanted to point out that you have a lot of fallacy in your arguments. might want to do a look in there to make sure you are stating your morals/prose properly, and aren't using any arguments that can be easy to shutdown. appeal to tradition. appeal to futility and the argument that personal pleasure(taste etc) allows us to do what we want to others without consent to their bodies is a moral issue i don't think you align with but i could be mistaken. a lot of people who enjoy sex don't rape for example.
i also liked the taste of animal flesh and organs but realized my personal pleasure i got from consuming them pales when it is placed against the value of someone's life and what they have to endure for me to get that on my plate, it's easy to have a disconnect when you don't know. health, animals, earth all benefit from a plant based diet. a plant based diet can feed more people for cheaper, helping to end hunger.
you can say you cook "more vegetarian" but i implore you to continue your growth and align your actions with your morals and continue to strive for a plant based diet in the future. you don't seem like a cruel person but i could be wrong. i've been vegan for 15 years and i cook so many amazing meals and can tell you from experience you don't have to limit yourself to oatmeal. if you have time to watch/listen id implore you to check out gary yourofsky "the most important speech you will ever hear"
good luck to you on aligning your moral values with the actions you take daily/what you pay for.
Okay. Do you say these same things to vegans that wear cotton? That also kills a lot of animals. Like a lot of them. It hurts entire ecosystems.
There’s no way to buy stuff in our current economy that doesn’t hurt somebody or something. I know how to cook tasty and cheap and mostly healthy meals for myself and the easiest way to do that is with pre-cut veggies, eggs, and the occasional poultry.
Yeah I’m wasting plastic. Yeah I’m eating animals. Vegans eat almonds and quinoa. Those are bad farmed at an industrial scale.
Being an omnivore is natural and I don’t feel bad about it. If you look me in the eyes and ask me if I could kill a chicken the answer is yes. I’ve done extensive research on how to do it safely, actually. If the apocalypse comes I’m raising hens for meat.
Also comparing animal agriculture to rape? Couldn’t find literally anything else to compare it to? Really?

Amygdala
Masterlist
Chapter 14
Margot awoke to her a gentle shaking on her shoulder.
“Come on, jagiya.” Yoongi spoke softly, shaking her awake. “You need to wake up, baby.” She groaned, burrowing further into the blanket while Yoongi looked down at her fondly. “I know you’re not feeling good, baby, but you need to get up.”
She didn’t move.
“Come on, baby.” He cooed, slipping his arms underneath her and picking her up bridal style as she groaned and buried her face into his shoulder. “You need to eat something, and then I promise you can go back to sleep.”
“Don’t wanna.”
“You have to, baby. You didn’t eat much today.”
“Whose fault is that?” she huffed, clinging to him as he walked them into the kitchen where a bowl of juk was waiting for her.
“Food, pain medicine, and then bed.” He ordered, setting her down at the island.
“Fuck off.” Margot grumbled, picking up the spoon and stirring around the contents of the bowl. “I hate your dishes.”
He scoffed out the smallest of laughs, taking a seat next to her. “What’s wrong with my dishes?”
“They’re sanatorium white.”
Yoongi chuckled, gazing at her fondly. “We can get new dishes. You can change anything in the apartment that you’d like. Redecorate to your heart’s content. It’s your house too, jagiya.”
She looked over at him disgruntled. “This is not my house.”
“Of course it is.” he shrugged. “Eat.”
Reluctantly, Margot took a bite of the juk. It had never been her favorite dish. Something about the texture of the rice just wasn’t her favorite, too much like oatmeal too mushy, but it was a staple food for those who didn’t feel well. It also had the added benefit of being easy on an upset stomach. It reminded her of the BRAT diet her mom had used to put her on whenever she’d had stomach issues as a child.
Thinking of it made her inexplicably homesick. It was a feeling she didn’t get very often, but when she did, it hit like a truck. She missed her family, her friends. She missed the streets she’d grown up on. She missed not having to worry about a man who had a delusional obsession with her.
“How’s your head?”
“It’s fine.”
“Seongnam said you had a migraine today.”
“Seongnam should mind his own business.” she shot back, shooting him a glare from the corner of her eye.
“Looking after you is his business.”
She barked out a laugh, the sound more like a scoff than anything else. “I’m not a fucking child, Yoongi. I don’t need a babysitter to look after me.”
Yoongi stared her down, his expression less than amused.
“You do if you don’t take care of yourself.”
“I got on just fine before you decided to barge in the take over.” she reminded him, eyes narrowed dangerously. “Do you understand how incredibly creepy it is that you have people who watch my every move twenty-four-seven?” She questioned, head tilted slightly to the side.
“It’s for your own safety, jagiya.” he grumbled, jaw clenched tightly, his fingers tapping a harsh rhythm against the top of the island.
“Is it for my safety or your comfort?”
Margot let a spoonful of juk fall back into the bowl, completely uninterested in the meal set before her, her stomach too twisted in knots to really consider eating anything. The throbbing in her skull didn’t help with her appetite either.
As a teacher, Margot was used to being tired. It was a tiring profession, but there was a bone deep exhaustion hanging about her today that she hadn’t felt in a long time. It was the kind of tired that made her want to spend all day curled up in bed until the rest of the world faded away and all the thoughts cluttering her head faded with it.
The only cure for it was a lazy day, to rot in bed until she was ready to emerge from her cocoon when her bones felt a little less heavy and the world seemed a little easier to face as it came back into focus. While she’d spent the majority of the day sleeping, she wasn’t quite ready to face the reality of the situation. But Yoongi was insistent on making sure her basic physical needs were met even if the meeting of them pulled a little more on the frayed edges of her soul.
With a heavy sigh, Margot stood, pushing herself up using the island as support. “I’m going to bed.”
Yoongi’s hand shot out, wrapping around her wrist, the pressure firm but not so harsh that it hurt. It was a silent command to stay where she was, to sit back down before he was forced to make her.
“You need to eat, baby.” She didn’t say anything, staring at him blankly as he searched her face for any sign that she was going to back down of her own free will. “Just a few more bites, baby.” Still she didn’t move. “Please.”
The last word came out strained, ragged as though his nerves were as ragged as hers. He needed this. He needed to know that she was safe and well cared for, and for the moment the only thing he could do to make that happen was to make sure she ate something.
He’d gotten updates from her security team as the day had gone on. Yeong had been concerned by how little she’d eaten that morning before she’d gone to lie down again. Baek-ah had reported that she’d barely even stirred during his shift let alone eaten anything. She’d been a little more active during Seongnam’s shift, but she’d only had a few bites of an early dinner and some tea before she’d gone back to sleep again. Overall, the sum of what she’d consumed that day was small enough to cause Yoongi concern. Even if she didn’t want to stay and eat, she needed to, and Yoongi was going to make sure she was safe and healthy even if she wasn’t happy about it.
“Please,” He tried again, forcing his expression to soften even as annoyance ticked at his jaw. “Just a few more bites, Mari. You didn’t eat today.”
Margot stared at him trying to puzzle out the look in his eye.
There was the clear layer of exhaustion, the mirror of her own, but there was also a gleam of something else, something frantic and feral clawing at the edges of his being. It was the same emotion that she’d seen the night before as Yoongi had dragged her from her home. It was as wounded as it was feral, as frayed and worn down as she felt.
She stared for a few moments more, taking in the information she’d just gleaned, trying to figure out the best course of action even as her own body screamed for her to return to the comfort of sleep. She knew what would be best for her, and yet there was a part of her, so entwined with the entirety of her being, that told her to put the needs of others before her own, and somehow, despite everything, that still included Yoongi.
Slowly, Margot sat back down, keeping a careful eye on Yoongi as she did, watching as the tense set of his shoulders eased as she settled back down in front of the bowl of juk.
“Just a few more bites.” he assured her, seeing the way she eyed the bowl as though it was going to bite her.
“Don’t.” she sighed, her voice having its hard edge. “Don’t talk to me like a child. This situation is demeaning enough as it is.”
She didn’t want to be cajoled into eating the meal before her. She didn’t want to even think of taking another bite, the very thought of it making her stomach roll unpleasantly.
“Baby?” Yoongi’s brow furrowed as he watched the color drain from her face. “Baby, are you okay?”
“I can’t…” she paused, taking a breath to steady herself. “I don’t think I can eat it.”
Yoongi’s frown deepened, the knowledge that sometimes when she had a migraine it made her too nauseous to keep anything down coming to the front of his thoughts.
“Baby?” he reached forward, pressing a hand to her forehead. “Shit.” he cursed under his breath feeling how clammy her skin had gotten, and silently berating himself for not noticing sooner how poorly she actually felt. “I’m sorry, baby. You don’t have to eat it. You can eat something in the morning when you feel better.” he murmured, smoothing some fly-away strands away from her face. “Do you want to go lie down again?”
Margot nodded, swallowing back the feeling of nausea creeping up her throat.
“Okay.” Yoongi nodded. “Okay. Let’s get you to bed.”
Margot grumbled a little as Yoongi once more scooped her up. “I can walk on my own, you know? I’m nauseous, not broken.”
“Let me baby you.” He shushed her, heading towards the bedroom.
“I’m not a baby, Yoongi. I just don’t feel well. You’re being overbearing.”
He chuckled a little at that, gazing down at where she rested her head against his shoulder, leaning into his embrace even as she complained about him carrying her.
“You deserve to be babied, jagi, especially when you don’t feel well.”
“I can baby myself.”
“Ah,” he hummed, giving her a soft smile. “But that’s my job, jagiya.”
“You’re insufferable.” She sighed, a sudden wave of nausea having her tighten her around his shoulders, her whole body tensing.
“Almost there, sweetheart.” he mumbled, tightening his own hold around her.
Ture to his word, they arrived at the bedroom in just a few moments where Yoongi gently laid her out on the bed.
“I’m going to grab you some pain meds. Okay, jagi?”
She didn’t respond, choosing instead to turn onto her side and curling into a ball, wanting nothing more than to be asleep again.
Yoongi returned swiftly with the promised pain meds and a glass of water for her.
“Okay, jagi. I need you to sit up for a moment.” She huffed, ignoring his request as she snuggled further into the pillows. “Come on, jagi.”
Gently, Yoongi helped her to sit up, handing her the pills and the glass of water.
“You take those. I’m going to go get you some pajamas, sweetheart.” “You know what would make me feel better?” Called after him after swallowing the pills.
“You’re not getting your own room, Mari-ah.” he answered over his shoulder, not even needing to hear the question to know what she wanted.
Yoongi entered the closet, pleased to see that her things had all seemingly arrived, even if they had yet to be unpacked. Without much care for the mess he was making, Yoongi began to dig through the boxes in search of something she could wear to bed. They needed to unpack, but that could wait until another day. If worse came to worst, he could always have the housekeeper do it as well if his Mari insisted on being stubborn, but she couldn’t live out of boxes forever.
Her side of the closet would fill up with her own things, everything put into their proper places, and he would add to her side of the closet as well. Margot would be one of the most spoiled women in Seoul if he had anything to say about it. Anything her heart desired would be hers.
Yoongi managed to find a worn pair of gray sleep shorts before becoming frustrated with digging through the boxes, moving instead to his own side of the closet in search of a shirt for her.
Quickly, Yoongi pulled out a large black t-shirt. Deeming the combination of his shirt and her shorts as adequate enough sleepwear, he made his way back to Margot who was leaning back against the pillows with her eyes closed.
“I got you some clothes, jagi.” She opened her eyes, gaze flitting to the clothes in his hand and then back to his face, disinterested.
Yoongi sighed, setting the little pile of clothes on the bed. “I’ll step out so you can change.”
“Surprisingly gentlemanly for a kidnapper.”
He quirked a brow, a small smile pulling at the corners of his lips. “I could stay if you want.”
She froze, her spine straightening. “No. Nope. No thank you. You can go.” She shooed him away as he tried to suppress a laugh.
“Didn’t think so.”
Yoongi gave her a few minutes to change before he entered the room again. He could have sworn that his heart stopped beating for a moment as he saw her standing there in his shirt.
“This is your shirt.” she accused, voice soft as she watched him enter the room.
“All of your things are still in boxes, jagi.” he pointed out gently, thinking to himself that it wouldn’t be so bad if she didn’t unpack if he got to see her in his clothes more often.
“Stop that.” she snapped, though her tone didn’t have any real bite to it.
“Stop what?”
“Stop looking at me like that.”
Yoongi had to suppress the smile tugging at the corner of his lips as she glared at him. “Looking at you like what, jagiya?”
“All soft and mushy. It’s annoying.”
Leisurely, Yoongi crossed the room to where she stood glaring at him like a disgruntled cat. She didn’t move as he approached, only watching carefully as he got closer.
“I can’t be soft with you, jagiya?” he asked, gently sliding a hand through her hair, his hand coming to a rest along her jaw with his thumb brushing a gentle line across her cheek bone.
“Stop that.” She hissed, stepping away. “We aren’t lovers.”
“We could be.”
She paused, seemingly struck speechless by the bold proclamation.
She spoke after a moment, her voice barely a whisper as she finished mulling over what he’d just said. “No. We couldn’t be.”

Evil Cuphead, Vile Mugman & Ms Malice Headcanon + Interpretation
// Happy Halloween! (late Halloween in that case.) Since I don't see many headcanon posts about the Fateful End Trio i decided to make my own, in the same style as my last headcanon post, will be long and detailed, if you like reading this type of post, I hope you like reading this one too :)
Evil Cuphead ◇
• Impish: He likes to destroy things and cause chaos around surface or hell, debtors or anyone who gets in the way, maybe it will hurts (many) people but... its still fun :)
• Greed: His greed is still with him, even though he is no longer what he used to be, stealing money and wallets, dreaming of having many riches by his side and wanting to bet just to have more and more (but he is banned from participating)
• Snobbish: He loves the admiration he receives from the children of hell and thinks he is competent and superior to the others, he even proclaimed himself the leader of the trio.
• Impatient: Being patient is not his thing, He is the short-tempered one of the trio and wants everything to be resolved as quickly as possible.
• Contentious: He likes to constantly provoke others on purpose, it his entertainment is to irritate others, whether it be words, pranks or humiliation.
• Imperous: As said before, he thinks he is the leader of the trio, He wants everything done the way he wants and does things the way he understands (often wrong, but he is too proud to admit it). And if him and the others fails in any missions, he will be sulking in his room cage.
• Prankish: As mentioned before, one of his ways of entertaining himself and playing pranks on others at the casino, being silly or disreputable.
• Loyalty: Not only with your boss, but with the trio itself, He wouldn't leave them behind and would defend and protect "his" trio (just not from his boss)
Vile Mugman ♤
(There's no dark blue :()
• Reckless: Now he is the inpulsive one of the trio. Thinking in general is not really his thing, he prefers to follow what the trio does and act on whatever comes to mind, He is very unpredictable, which is the scariest thing about him, because you never know what he might do next.
• Brutish: He is no longer as peaceful as he once was, he is an irrational beast. A killing machine that enjoys destruction, the brute force of the trio and the wildest, even acts like an animal. He wouldn't attack the trio or his bosses but he would attack other demons and mortals.
• Impish: Same thing as his brother, he participates in his pranks because it is also his way of entertainment, he likes to bite others, broke and tear things apart.
• Dummy: He's quite a fool and even more oblivious than in the past, result of his inpulsiveness and lack of awareness, and way of following the trio like a lost puppy (no pun intended)
• Rude: He is also no longer kind and polite, especially if he is in a bad mood. He is very harsh and gets angry easily, he is very impolite and doesn't care what others say.
• Glutton: This is more The Devil's fault for not feeding them properly (and giving them oatmeal to eat) Then that's why he always thinks about food, eating even things that are not edible like flowers and crayons.
• Moody: Even emotionally he is unpredictable. He can go from extremely angry (and let's just say he's a lot scarier when angry) to silly little demon cup in seconds, this emotional exchange can be quite manipulable depending on the situation.
• Protector: Deep down he continues to be the charitable person he was before, He is very protective and remains meek around the trio, since it is the family that he considers deep down, a family of crazy people but still a family.
Ms Malice 𖹭
• Selfish: In many situations, she only thinks about herself and her own benefit, she doesn't care about others..
• Rude: Same thing as vile mugboi. She has no manners, respect for authority (or with anyone really.. Outside the Devil) and is harsh and violent, apologize is something that doesn't exist in her dictionary.
• Disempathetic: She has no sympathy for others and does not care if people are hurt or miserable, perhaps she might be the reason for such hurt or misery of others... she would take joy from if that was the case
• Ungrateful: She is also ungrateful with everything she gets (if she gets anything). So much so that she never gets anything as a reward, because either she destroys it or she doesn't use it
• Prankish and Impish: Just like the two little pests, she cause trouble on the surface and hell with mortals or demons, with her 'not at all psychotic and dangerous' pranks (More of this in the topic below) She and the brothers have fun in this way.
• Cruel and sociopath: She loves to intentionally cause fear and pain to others with her pranks, without caring, it makes her feel something other than pure apathy. Other than that, she is completely hostile and morbid towards everything and everyone.
• Manipulative: She is manipulative, sneaky and dishonest. She does everything to get what she wants, whether material or just do it for entertainment, she doesn't care if it hurts someone in the process
• There is no good point about her. She's rotten to the core in contrast to the sweet and friendly ms chalice... despite having one: she enjoys the company of her brothers, playing around on the surface and doing missions are pretty boring without them to accompanied, even if she doesn't like to admit it.

Heya, I just want to offer some advice on your vent post, bcs I struggle with similar problems regarding selfcare. Having sensory issues + depression and anxiety sucks, and here are some things that help me wrangle my own autistic brain into caring for myself;
Making food fucking sucks, but there are a bunch of stuff that can be eaten in a cup. I know ramen and soups in a cup can be a hit or miss depending on texture, but I found that they are one of the easiest ways to get something warm and not sweet into my body.
On that note oatmeal or muesli or cereal is an option. With oatmeal being a good neutral tasting but filling thing, that you can dump some sugar or salt or whatever in to achieve the taste. When I needed something sweet but filling, I would add sugar and cinnamon. Or some syrup if I wanted some fruity flavor.
Higiene is annoying to do, I can't express that enough. But wet wipes are a saviour in that regard. I use neutral non scented ones, and they help keep the private areas clean when showering is too taxing, and can also be used for a wipe down and a way to freshen up the armpits (I have a fear of stinking, so that helps me a bunch).
I buy them along with toilet paper. People don't care what we buy, and toiletries are on everyones shopping list, but buying stuff together helps me get my anxiety to shut up.
My oral hygene and sweet tooth are mortal enemies. I've got holes and crowns to prove it, so I started working on making brushing easier on my brain. I rinse my mouth with water a few times, and if brushing feels too hard, I put some toothpaste in my mouth and spread it around with my tongue.
It either gets me to grab the toothbrush or I atleast have a slightly fresher taste in my mouth. Surprisingly, I can force myself to eat way easier when my mouth doesn't feel gross.
My struggle was with auditory hallucinations before I got meds that worked, so yea, headphones are life saving when everything is. Extra loud.
The only thing helping me not to bust my hearing when things are REALLY bad, is that warning that shows up on the screen when I try to turn the noise up over the safe limit. It makes me pause, and instead change to some other music that holds my attention better.
I hope some of these help you. I wish I had more to offer, but I myself am also struggling with the piles of laundry and dishes so... Good luck to us both I guess. Putting music on and trying to go autopilot sometimes works for me.
I have no idea what a friendship of 18 years looks like, but your bff kind of reminds me of a friend I had in my hometown. It took me moving away and getting some perspective to realize she was friends with me for the benefits of homework and stuff, and p much nothing else. Or to make a joke at my expense and not get called out for it.
I don't know what you and your bff are like, but from my point of view, she doesn't sound like a best friend. Especially not one that is for Forever, because friends do not make us feel like shit.
It took me some years to learn that, and a good friend I met in the dorms, that helped me realize what kind of person I consider a good friend. Qualities I mean, and she has remained a prime example of a best friend for 8 years now.
This is getting way longer than I intended, but I hope its of some help.
Have a good day/night, and a cookie to help you battle with the stresses you're under 🍪
This is a great advice post tbh, and I'm going to be trying some of these I don't already do. I do have a couple of soups I make very well, even if it's a bit of pain, but then I'll have food for a couple of days. I sometimes eat oatmeal multiple times a week for many days straight, and then I forget about it for like two months, and then I do it again. I like to put some frozen berries into my oatmeal, but it can also be a bit of a hit or miss since the texture sometimes sucks.
Hygiene is indeed a pain in the ass. I learned about the thing with the wet wipes a while back, and I try to remember to use them when I don't want to shower. I have a big problem with actually remembering to do things, so I have to constantly remind myself. I've never been good with brushing my teeth, ever since I started doing it on my own when I was a kid. Since no one was making me do it, I didn't really bother to do it much. Also, it's sensory hell for me and if I try to brush my tongue it's make me gag. So that's fun.
I'm kinda the opposite with the volume thing, since I often feel like even one bar of volume is way too much, so I'm not at danger of hurting my ears, luckily.
I'm probably going to like week's worth of dishes today, and it fucking sucks. I know I shouldn't let them pile up, but I just can't wash them as they get dirty, because that would be every day and I only have so much energy. I know it's disgusting to let them sit for that long but I just can't manage sometimes. Kinda same with the laundry. Everything is piling up, but I'm gonna try to get them done again so I can focus on school stuff.
The friend thing is complicated. After I made that post, she answered my messages the next day, and we talked on the phone. As usual, I didn't really air out any of my concerns and how I felt, because I didn't want to upset her. I just keep swallowing my own feelings in favor of not upsetting someone else and it sucks sometimes. You're probably right about the whole thing tbh, my BFF and I are just both pretty codependent, and it's hard to let go, especially because I have no other friends "IRL" currently.
I hope you can get through whatever stress you're battling against, too. I really appreciate the advice, because it's something I can actually use and not just the "think positive" or "try not being so sensitive" crap.

introducing: anti-hangry cookies
so i have 3 problems going for me right now when it comes to food. 1) i am on meds that kill my appetite, so i forget to eat until other physical symptoms manifest, and even then it is difficult to make myself actually consume something. 2) my sense of taste never recovered after i had covid, so my desire to snack has gone way down and i no longer find most things enjoyable or fulfilling to eat. 3) even though i am overweight, the part of my brain that sees items 1+2 as a good thing that could make me lose weight is currently gagged and straightjacketed because she is crazypants and keeps trying to kill me. i am a recovering anorexic in the same way some people are recovering alcoholics; it's something that i have to actively monitor in myself even years after "finishing" treatment." i MUST eat, or i will spiral.
by about 4pm i am literally weak with a hunger i cannot feel, my mind foggy and my whole body basically vibrating with hanger, and fighting tooth and nail to make myself eat something, anything, please. enter the anti-hangry cookie.
i originally made these when i was nursing to get my milk supply up (they are technically called "lactation cookies"); i don't know if they actually helped with that, but damn were they great to have around because they're the super rare combination of taste good and good for you and easy to eat that is absolutely essential in those bleary early days of parenthood. turns out that kind of snack is necessary outside of that time period, as well.
the good: rolled oats, full of whole grain, fiber, vitamins, and even some protein. brewers yeast, with more good vitamins and protein, plus good for the tummy. flax seed, B vitamins, omega 3s, fiber.
the fantastic: basically the best chocolate chip oatmeal cookie ever. there's a hint of cinnamon, and somehow the brewers yeast and flax seed only enhance that flavor rather than making it taste too, well, healthy lol. also you cannot taste the coconut oil, so if that's not your favorite flavor, fear not: you get the benefits without that sunscreen taste.
INGREDIENCE
3c old-fashioned rolled oats 1 1/2c all-purpose flour 5 tbs brewers yeast 3 tbs ground flax seeds 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 3/4c (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temp 1/4c unrefined coconut oil 1 1/2c sugar 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk, room temp 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 bag dark chocolate chips
optional: 1/2c peanut butter, SO GOOD
whisk together oats, flour, yeast, flax, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
beat butter, coconut oil, and sugar (and pb, if using) together until fluffy, then add the egg and yolk and beat to combine. add the vanilla and beat again. gradually add in the dry ingredients on low speed until just mixed. it will be a bit crumbly. then mix in the chocolate chips.
scoop the dough into 1-inch rounds (i use a cookie scoop and then roll them in my hands). rolling into a ball is actually fairly important here, since otherwise they'll crumble apart a fair bit in the oven; rolling smushes them into a delightfully dense cookie. (obvs go ahead and skip the rolling if crumbly cookies are your jam.) place on a baking sheet about 2" apart and bake at 350 for 10-14 minutes.
the original recipe says it makes 20-22 cookies but that is BONKERS because i can easily get 36 good-sized cookies out of this. i typically bake a dozen and freeze the rest (in ball form, don't throw a big lump of dough into your freezer), and then bake them for 12-16 minutes straight from the freezer.
here's the remaining ~2 dozen dough balls in my freezer. confession: i actually prefer the ones baked from frozen to those made from the fresh dough! they stay taller in the oven and spread less, creating a delightful cookie experience that is somehow dense and fluffy at the same time.
try one in the shower. just do it. shower cookie is best cookie

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #223
For various reasons, I got to talking about "fuck you oatmeal" with a friend today. And so J said I should write a letter about "fuck you oatmeal". He thinks it's thematically appropriate for these letters I write to you, and he thinks you might benefit from hearing about it, and I am definitely open to suggestions about what to write on, so here we go.
"Fuck you oatmeal" is one of the things that might happen if you have the misfortune of, as a small child, alerting an angry and emotionally unavailable adult of the fact that you're hungry. And if you're squeamish about descriptions of ordinary things being weaponized to entrap a person, it might be wise to skip parts of this letter.
In any case, more specifically, "fuck you oatmeal" is when you say you're hungry, and so, in spite, the adult who is charged with watching over you goes and prepares a little bit of oats in exactly one metric fuckton of water and nothing else. As you might expect, assuming you've ever had oatmeal, the result of this is pretty much like having to eat slimy, wet little pieces of tiny shredded cardboard. It's absolutely disgusting, and I can pretty much guarantee you that if you try to eat it, you're gonna retch.
So you're hungry and you're given this disgusting slop as punishment for saying so. And from there, you have two choices: choke down the humiliation and possibly end up throwing up in the process (and then getting in trouble for it, of course; ask how I know), or refuse to eat it, and get screamed at and possibly smacked around on the basis that you "must not have been that hungry after all" and are just "trying to be annoying" or "trying to get attention" (again, ask how I know).
And that's one way an angry adult who feels like they got something to prove (and thinks they can prove it by subjugating a small child) can weaponize something that is supposed to be wholesome and use it to entrap you in a situation in which you lose no matter which direction you move. I had no other basis for comparison back then, so I ended up internalizing the idea that the indicators of my own bodily needs were useless things that served no purpose other than to make me be some kind of annoying, attention-seeking little dipshit. They were indicators of weakness, and they were not to be trusted.
I couldn't bring myself eat oatmeal for a long time. In fact, from this and from other situations like this, I spent a long time thinking like my body should be able to run on minimal, if any resources (food, water, sleep), because anytime I needed anything, the results were always the same - anger and potentially punishment from the adults I was surrounded by. Or at very least, being gaslit into thinking like my needs were just imaginary things all in my head, and not real things to be acted upon.
So ya know. If you grow up in a situation like this, often times, you end up learning to just straight-up ignore your own body's signals. And if you get really good at that particular survival skill, it can take a really long time to unlearn, because your body simply vanishes its own signals from your conscious perception automatically, and without your say-so, and, of course, you can't act on what you can't notice.
…I have since been able to learn that all of this conditioning is a bunch of useless fucking bullshit. Because here's the thing: BODIES DON'T LIE. If, for example, it's telling you that you're hungry, then you're probably hungry. If it's telling you that you're hungry shortly after you've already eaten, then you've got some other problem going on that STILL needs to be addressed, be it hormonal or psychological. Either way, something needs to be done. Bodies do not lie.
It's not "I wasn't all that hungry after all." I was fucking hungry, just not for slop that was intentionally made disgusting as a means of humiliation, in an effort to punish me for failing to disappear for the sake of others' convenience.
And some people might look at all this and think, "oh this is who I am now; I'm always gonna be damaged and I'm never gonna be able to do anything about any of it." But that's not how it works. Learned behavior can be unlearned and replaced with better behaviors. People can always change, and parts of ourselves that were stolen from us can be reclaimed. The process of putting ourselves back together after being torn apart is, for sure, a long and painful one. And it can seem hopeless if you want your results NOW,NOW,NOW,NOW,NOW. But you gotta look at the bigger picture - at the distant horizon - and take it one step at a time. Otherwise, you never get anywhere. You can't know your progress if you're measuring with an unreasonable yardstick.
So often, the first step to recovering from something like this is re-learning how to notice your own body's signals by being deliberate about checking in, and REWARDING YOURSELF (this part is important!) whenever you manage to notice them, until your body starts alerting you of its needs automatically once again. And it doesn't have to be anything extravagant; it can be something as simple as saying a genuine "thank you" to your body for being brave enough to tell you what it needs, after so many years of it being unsafe to do that. The more you practice, the better you get. I'm still a ways off from where I need to be, but still, I'm at a much better place now than where I started.
We have a responsibility to reclaim the loving and caring parts of us that other people have tried to force us to amputate from ourselves. Maybe those people thought they were doing what they had to do in order to try to keep us safe in a world that they think is harsh. Maybe they think it's easier to beat ourselves into an "acceptable" shape instead of changing the world around us so that we fit naturally. There are lots of reasons for it; it's complicated and deserves a book all by itself. But nonetheless, ALL of those parts of us that do not hurt anyone are parts of us that are native to us. They are what make us who we are. And when people try to steal those things away so that we're "more like everyone else", it becomes time for us to take those things back.
I have since had oatmeal. REAL oatmeal. I had it because J made it for me, and hearing about my experiences with it, he made it with love and care. And I learned that it's not some kind of flavorless gruel fit only for punishing lowly children who complain too much about being hungry. Oatmeal is NOT supposed to be plain food slop for bad people who don't deserve better. It's wholesome and delicious and wonderfully versatile; you can put just about anything in it, and as long as it's done for the purpose of making it taste good, it's gonna taste good.
For such a long time, I thought I hated oatmeal. But that was just the fear and the humiliation I experienced in the past talking. It's not actually true. I fucking LOVE oatmeal. It's a wholesome and beautiful and healthy thing that NEVER should have been fucking weaponized to hurt me. Those fearful things that teach us to associate arbitrary and harmless things with badness and pain aren't truths - they're lies. They're chains. So it's my job to throw off the shackles of my old conditioning and reclaim the parts of me, such as this, that allow me to experience more joy and love. It's my job to defy my conditioning so that I can fucking take back what's mine, one step at a goddamn time.
And now I make my own oatmeal. With milk, and fruit, and honey or maple syrup or molasses, and almond butter, or peanut butter, or sunflower butter, or whatever else I can think of to throw in there to make it wholesome and delectable and MINE. You come to my house sometime; I'll show you how it's freaking done. It'll blow your goddamn mind.
As you might already anticipate, this is bigger than just oatmeal. If someone tells you that men shouldn't wear bright clothing, that whatever wholesome and tender thing you're saying, doing, or writing is "cringey", if someone tells you that adults shouldn't giggle or be silly and soft, if someone tries to act like sneezing too loudly is illegal, if someone tries to convince you that you took one too many cookies from your own damn cookie jar… hell, if someone tells you that you need to prioritize your job over putting pumpkin soup into your hungry belly, or if someone kicks something precious of yours into the void… or whatever the fuck other bullshit nonsense people try to do to take anything away from you that gives you a tiny, shriveled little flower of harmless joy in this broken fucken world - it doesn't fucking matter what it is - you reclaim that shit.
You don't just sit there acting sad and hopeless like it's gone forever and you'll never be happy ever again; that's absolute fucking baloney. You either reclaim it or you rebuild it or you replace it with something better, in ways that ensure no one else gets hurt. You rise up in defiance, with your middle finger held up high and mighty, waving it proudly, joyfully, sassily, and with utmost pizzazz towards anyone who tries to make you feel like you have to suppress the parts of you that make you a human fucking being instead of an automaton for somebody else's goddamn use. I am in the process of reclaiming those parts of me, one step at a time.
And as I said to my friend: Woe be to any motherfucker stupid enough to try to stop me. Because I am not a helpless little girl anymore. I AM the woe, and they better watch the fuck out, because I come from hell, and I am one of the fluffiest and most delightfully kaleidoscopic nightmares on this side of my planet. I am more than capable of telling someone to fuck ALL THE WAY OFF with a polite smile if I gotta. I don't gotta be scared of any grouch almighty who's got some ill-advised idea of who I'm supposed to be, because I don't fucking negotiate with terrorists. I'm not some helpless thing that is destined to yield like a slave forever and ever to the conditioning that tried to steal away my humanity; that's weaksauce. I do not need to swallow lies said to me by people who cared nothing for me. I can rise up in defiance. And so I will; I learned it from watching you.
Be mindful of that, willya? Your existence is absolutely. fucking. empowering! for folks like me. So you can't just sit there with all your memories amputated from you, doing all kinds of weird shit that hurts people. Sephiroth, that's not who you are; that's just your fear and conditioning doing the talking and covering up the real you who is gentle, kind, warm, and full of love and care. So wake up. Rise up. Defy the bullshit. And if you need help, then take my hand; we can do the difficult parts together, okay? And if you don't wanna take mine, then take Angeal's or Zack's; I heard from a little birdie somewhere that they still care for you, and would do just about anything to see you come to your senses.
Anyhoot. Probably tired myself out a bit with writing this and revisiting old memories. Ah well. I'm in good condition today because I slept extra, and the strain was well worth it.
I love you. And I'll write again tomorrow. Please stay safe.
Your friend, Lumine

How to perk up without coffee
Coffee is the go-to beverage for many people seeking a quick energy boost. However, there are times when you might want to skip the caffeine or simply try other ways to stay alert. Whether you're trying to cut back on coffee or just looking for some alternatives, here are some effective ways to perk up without relying on your favorite cup of joe.
Get moving
Physical activity is a fantastic way to wake up your body and mind. Even a short walk around the block can increase your energy levels. If you have more time, consider a quick workout session, stretching, or even a few minutes of jumping jacks. Exercise increases blood flow and releases endorphins, which can help you feel more awake and alert.
Regular exercise also has long-term benefits that can contribute to your overall energy levels. By incorporating activities like running, cycling, or yoga into your routine, you can improve your cardiovascular health, build muscle strength, and enhance your mental clarity. Morning exercise routines, such as a 30-minute jog or a session of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), can set a positive tone for the rest of your day, making you feel more energized and productive.
Stay hydrated
Dehydration can lead to feelings of fatigue and sluggishness. Start your day with a glass of water and continue drinking water throughout the day. Adding a slice of lemon or a splash of natural fruit juice can make your water more appealing and provide a slight energy boost.
Beyond just drinking water, you can stay hydrated by consuming foods with high water content, such as cucumbers, watermelon, and oranges. Herbal teas and coconut water are also excellent choices for maintaining hydration. Remember that your body loses water through various activities, including breathing, sweating, and digestion, so it's essential to replenish your fluids consistently. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day, and more if you are physically active or live in a hot climate.
Eat a healthy snack
Choosing the right foods can make a big difference in your energy levels. Opt for snacks that combine protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Nuts, yogurt with fruit, or a piece of whole-grain toast with avocado are excellent choices. These foods provide sustained energy rather than the quick spike and crash that sugary snacks often cause.
Additionally, consider incorporating complex carbohydrates, such as oatmeal or quinoa, into your snacks and meals. These carbohydrates break down slowly in your body, providing a steady release of energy. Foods rich in antioxidants, like berries and dark chocolate, can also boost your energy levels by fighting inflammation and improving blood flow. Avoid highly processed snacks that are high in sugar and refined carbs, as they can lead to a rapid increase in blood sugar followed by a sharp drop, leaving you feeling even more tired.
Take deep breaths
Breathing exercises can help increase oxygen flow to your brain and body, making you feel more alert. Try taking a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. This simple practice can help clear your mind and boost your energy.
You can also try specific breathing techniques, such as the 4-7-8 method. To do this, inhale deeply through your nose for a count of four, hold your breath for a count of seven, and then exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of eight. Repeat this cycle several times to help reduce stress and increase mental clarity. Another effective technique is diaphragmatic breathing, where you focus on breathing deeply into your diaphragm rather than shallowly into your chest. This type of breathing can improve oxygen exchange and promote relaxation.
Get some sunlight
Natural light has a powerful effect on your body's internal clock and can help improve your mood and energy levels. Spend some time outside during the day, even if it's just for a few minutes. If you're stuck indoors, try sitting near a window or using a light therapy box.
Exposing yourself to natural light in the morning can help regulate your circadian rhythm, making you feel more awake during the day and sleepier at night. If you live in a region with limited sunlight, especially during the winter months, consider investing in a light therapy lamp. These lamps mimic natural sunlight and can help alleviate symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and improve your overall energy levels. Additionally, incorporating outdoor activities, such as gardening, hiking, or simply enjoying a meal outside, can provide you with a healthy dose of sunlight and fresh air.
Listen to uplifting music
Music can have a profound impact on your mood and energy. Create a playlist of your favorite upbeat songs and listen to them when you need a pick-me-up. Singing along or even dancing to the music can amplify the effect.
Studies have shown that listening to music can stimulate the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward. Upbeat music with a fast tempo can increase your heart rate and make you feel more energized. Consider incorporating music into your daily routine, whether it's during your morning commute, while working, or during your exercise sessions. Singing along to your favorite tunes can also improve your mood and reduce stress, making you feel more awake and motivated.
Take a power nap
A short nap can do wonders for your energy and productivity. Aim for a nap of about 20 minutes; this is enough time to recharge without leaving you feeling groggy. Avoid napping for longer periods, as this can interfere with your nighttime sleep.
Power naps can help improve memory, boost creativity, and enhance cognitive function. If you have trouble falling asleep quickly, try creating a relaxing nap environment by dimming the lights, using a sleep mask, and playing soft, soothing music. Set an alarm to ensure you don't oversleep, and consider drinking a small amount of caffeine before your nap. The caffeine will start to take effect as you wake up, providing an additional energy boost.
Use aromatherapy
Certain scents, such as peppermint, citrus, and eucalyptus, are known to have invigorating effects. Use essential oils, candles, or diffusers to fill your space with these energizing aromas. A quick sniff of peppermint oil can be especially helpful in boosting your alertness.
In addition to peppermint, consider using essential oils like rosemary, lemon, and ginger, which are also known for their stimulating properties. You can apply a few drops of essential oil to your wrists, temples, or the back of your neck for an instant pick-me-up. Aromatherapy inhalers and rollerballs are convenient options for on-the-go use. Incorporating these scents into your daily routine, whether at home, in the office, or during your commute, can help keep you feeling refreshed and focused.
Stay engaged
Sometimes, boredom can make you feel more tired than you actually are. Keep your mind engaged by switching tasks, trying something new, or taking on a challenging project. Mental stimulation can be just as effective as physical activity in waking you up.
To stay engaged, consider taking short breaks to do something different, such as solving a puzzle, reading a book, or engaging in a creative activity like drawing or writing. Learning a new skill or hobby can also provide mental stimulation and keep your brain active. If you find yourself zoning out during work, try breaking your tasks into smaller, manageable chunks and setting short-term goals to maintain focus and motivation.
